Frequently Asked Questions About Custom Window Treatments

  • How much do custom drapes cost in Scottsdale?

Custom drapery projects at Rod & Panel typically range from $10,000 to $40,000, depending on the number of windows, fabric selection, lining, and hardware. Unlike pre-made panels, everything is fabricated specifically for your home and your windows — which is why the investment and the result are both significant. We're happy to discuss budget expectations during your showroom visit.

  • How long does it take to get custom drapes made?

Most custom drapery orders take four to eight weeks from fabric selection to installation, depending on the complexity of the project and workroom scheduling. We'll give you a clear timeline estimate when you place your order. Rush options may be available for certain projects.

  • Do you offer in-home consultations?

We primarily work from our Scottsdale Airpark showroom, where you can see and feel fabric samples in person — something that makes a significant difference when making these decisions. Our professional installers visit your home to take precise measurements, and we can refer you to trusted local designers for broader interior design consulting if needed.

  • What is Hunter Douglas and why should I consider it?

Hunter Douglas is the world's leading manufacturer of custom blinds, shades, and shutters. As an authorized dealer, Rod & Panel carries their complete product line including the exclusive Alustra collection and the PowerView motorization system, which allows you to control your shades via app or voice assistant. Hunter Douglas products are known for their quality, warranty, and the widest range of light control and privacy options available.

  • Can you help me choose fabrics if I'm not sure what I want?

That's exactly what we're here for. Many of our clients come in with a general idea or even just a photo from a magazine — and we help translate that into a specific fabric, header style, and hardware combination that works for their space. Our showroom carries thousands of fabrics from premier lines including Fabricut, Kasmir, and Stout Brothers, and our staff has decades of experience guiding these decisions.

  • Do you handle installation?

We refer clients to a trusted network of experienced professional installers who specialize in window treatments. For Hunter Douglas products, we specifically use certified installers. We coordinate closely with our installation partners to ensure the entire process — from measurement to final hang — goes smoothly.
